Conditions I Work With

Depression

Depression is a common mental health condition that affects how you think, feel, and function day to day. It can be triggered by identifiable events or arise without a clear cause, often involving a mix of factors. Symptoms range from persistent sadness and loss of interest in activities, to changes in sleep, appetite, energy, concentration, and even thoughts of self-harm. The good news is that depression is treatable. Therapeutic approaches like Cognitive Analytic Therapy, EMDR and Psychodynamic Therapy can help you both relieve symptoms and understand their deeper causes.

By combining these methods, I can support you in feeling better now and preventing future episodes.

Anxiety & Panic

Trauma

Trauma is a response to deeply distressing events—such as abuse, bullying, or childhood adversity—that overwhelm your ability to cope and impact many areas of life. It can stem from a single event or a series of smaller events that build up over time, and you don’t need to have experienced the event directly; witnessing or hearing about it can also lead to trauma. Symptoms vary from person to person and may include anxiety, low mood, irritability, physical symptoms, or feeling overwhelmed. If untreated, trauma can develop into PTSD, with more intense symptoms like flashbacks, nightmares, and avoidance.

The good news is that both trauma and PTSD are treatable, and therapy can help you regain stability and emotional wellbeing.

Relationship difficulties

Relationship difficulties can arise in any kind of relationship—romantic, family, friendship, or work-related—and often leave us feeling hurt, confused, frustrated, or emotionally stuck. These challenges may come from communication problems, unmet needs, unresolved conflicts, trust issues, or differing expectations. Sometimes, patterns repeat themselves in different relationships, leaving you wondering why the same problems keep happening. Relationship issues can affect your self-esteem, mood, and even your overall mental health.

Therapy offers a safe, supportive space to explore what’s going on, understand your role in the dynamic, and learn healthier ways to connect, set boundaries, and rebuild trust.

Therapy sessions are provided in both English and Spanish so you are comfortable communicating in the way that is the most comfortable to you.

Online sessions

Online sessions offer us the flexibility to access support with me from your own space, wherever you are. Using Zoom, we can work together safely and confidentially, making therapy more accessible and convenient to fit your lifestyle.

Face to face sessions

Face to face sessions take place in a calm, relaxing, private setting designed to help you feel comfortable and at ease. Meeting face to face allows for a deeper sense of connection and presence as we explore your experiences together.

Therapy methods

I offer a range of effective talking therapies such as:

CAT

Cognitive analytic therapy

CAT is a collaborative and relational time-limited therapy combining cognitive and psychodynamic ideas. It helps understanding how early relationship patterns shape current difficulties and create patterns that are repeated throughout your life. Together, we map these patterns, recognize unhelpful cycles, and develop new ways of relating and coping.

EDMR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is a structured therapy for trauma and distressing memories. Sometimes, it is used to help with other mental health difficulties. It uses bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or other forms of stimulation like tapping), helping the brain process and integrate memories. This reduces emotional intensity and promotes adaptive resolution of past experiences.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a long term therapy, less structured than CAT, explores how unconscious thoughts, past experiences, and early relationships influence present feelings and behaviour. Through a safe therapeutic relationship, you gain insight into inner conflicts and patterns, fostering emotional understanding, symptom relief, and personal growth over time.
